- Glover, who broke a drought of more than 10 years at TPC Deere Run, is a free agent, choosing to use the clubs and golf balls that best suit his game. Having played without full sponsorship for years, the 2009 US Open champion’s gear mirrored many of the most popular products in each category with both his fellow free agents and at retail. The Srixon drivers for 2021 have gained a significant following, but Glover continues to play the predecessor model, which Hannah Green used to win her major title in 2019. Like so many others on the Tour, including the Last week’s winner Min Woo Lee, the 41-year-old opts for the Fujikura Ventus shaft in its driver, the Japanese company’s most popular model line on the PGA Tour.
Beyond his old model pilot, Glover also uses replaced irons and cleats, marking him as a game that works like a golfer. The four-time PGA Tour winner uses the same irons Brooks Koepka has collected major titles with regularity. Mizuno’s JPX919 Tour, one of the best and most popular player models of recent years. A pure ball forward, Glover found nearly 80 percent of the greens in regulation for the week, but his victory came from improved putting. Having struggled with the short putting, Glover has incorporated a new routine on the greens with great success lately.
The newest club model in Glover’s bag, his G425 3-wood, also comes equipped with arguably the most unique look of his bag. The TPT shaft he uses in his solitary fairway weighs 90 grams, with the Hi in the model name identifying it as the highest ball flight option. TPT is a newcomer to the tree manufacturing industry, which has caught the attention of driver Jason Day.
- Glover’s victory provides another for Titleist golf balls on the PGA Tour in 2021, his third in a row for the brand’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x and 21.st over 29 events this year.
