New England Railroad Museum reopens

THOMASTON – The Railroad Museum of New England has announced its fall and winter 2021 schedule for the Naugatuck Railroad, with several new themed rides through the Naugatuck River Valley as well as the return of all-time favorite rail tours , according to a statement.

These rides offer family options, as well as date nights or an excursion with friends.

The Naugatuck Railway rides are pulled by vintage diesel locomotives and allow passengers to see the beautiful Naugatuck River Valley ablaze with fall colors or winter wonderland while enjoying a variety of seasonally themed rides.

Naugatuck River Scenic Train: Family Ride with Fascia Chocolate Factory Stop

The Harvest Festival Express: Apple cider, fall-themed sets and games for kids at Thomaston Station, plus a train ride to the Fascia Chocolate Factory.

The Autumn Colors Limited: Travel through the foliage of the Litchfield Hills with a stop at the Fascia Chocolate Factory. Fridays and Saturdays in October

The Torrington Twilight Express: Travel through downtown Torrington aboard our historic train for a Saturday night on the town with your family and friends.

The Torrington Twilight Express: Beer Tasting (21+): Coming soon, details to follow (limited time event)

The Chocolate Decadence Tour (21+): A journey with aperitifs, chocolate and wine pairings highlighted by a visit to the Fascia chocolate factory.

Litchfield Hills BBQ and Tequila Special (21+): On Thursday, October 7, passengers experience several high-quality tequila tastings as well as a local barbecue. (Limited time event)

Litchfield Hills BBQ and Whiskey Special (21+): On Thursday, October 28, passengers experience multiple tastings of high-quality whiskey and bourbon as well as a local barbecue. (Limited time event)

The Pumpkin Patch Train: A family favorite fall ride through the Upper Naugatuck Valley.

Santa Express: Passengers visit Santa Claus and his elves. Each child also receives a special gift from Santa’s toy bag.

Northern Lights Limited: Departing at nightfall, all the lights inside and outside the train are on, casting a cheerful, festive glow. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will also be visiting all the nice boys and girls.

All trains depart from historic Thomaston Station located at 242 East Main Street, Thomaston. All ticket sales benefit the non-profit Railroad Museum of New England and help preserve the history of the railroad.
