A new venue and a new competitor saw the same tight race we’ve seen all year at the Bunker Hill Grand Prix, round six of the FMF AMA Grand Prix National Championship Series. Visiting Delta, Utah, May 14-15, and the famous Bunker Hill MX track for the first time, riders were greeted with a championship-caliber motocross track and miles of flowing sand in the off-road portion of the course. .

An avid sand racer, Dante Oliveira overcame a tough start to put in blistering laps en route to his fourth win of the season and his first big points gap of the year.

Fresh off his National Supercross Futures Championship, Factory Honda HRC’s Chance Hymas made his presence known in his off-road debut in the 450cc class, grabbing the holeshot against the fastest off-road racers in the west. Hymas capitalized on his strong start and started early, building a 10 second lead by the end of the first lap and slowly progressing from there. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Austin Walton held on from the start, racing in second for nearly half the race before FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Dante Oliveira made the pass on his run to the front after a mediocre start and first lap.

Chance Hymas at the 2022 Bunker Hill Grand Prix
After winning a Supercross Futures Championship, Chance Hymas found himself riding a Factory Honda 450 off-roader for over 90 minutes, showing impressive speed and racing gear to finish second in the Open class. Pro.

With a 23 second lead over Oliveira and nearly identical lap times, Hymas looked set to claim victory at one of his busy tracks. Over time, the Hymas hands did the same and hanging on to the factory 450 became a bit of a chore in the deep, rough sand coupled with high temperatures in the 90s while racing. The young teenager slowed his pace slightly and the defending champion leaned in to catch and pass the rookie late in the race. With just 20 minutes to go in the 90-minute long distance race, Oliveira passed the young motocrosser after throwing his two fastest laps of the race in an hour. From there, Oliveira reached the finish uncontested and with his fourth win of the season in the bag. Hymas held onto second place in his first foray into off-road racing riding a 450cc machine, pretty impressive for the young Supercross Futures champion.

Meanwhile, the battle for third place raged throughout the race between Walton and SLR Honda’s Cole Martinez, both of whom have grown accustomed to battling over the past few seasons. Martinez made the pass over Walton just over halfway through the race, and the two never lost sight of each other, with Martinez holding a slight advantage over the Husqvarna rider. In the ladies, Martinez finished third with Walton hot on her heels for fourth place. Utah local Tyler Lynn rode an iconic run, charging the field late in the race to secure another top five and matching the pace of the frontrunners in the closing stages.

Mateo Oliveira at the 2022 Bunker Hill Grand Prix
Just like that berm, Mateo Oliveira left the Pro 2 peloton in pieces as he sailed to victory over 90 seconds ahead of the next best.

In the lightweight class, FMF RPM KTM Racing Team’s Mateo Oliveira left no doubt as to who was the best 250cc rider of the day. Leading from lap one through lap 14, the younger Oliveira brother put in time in the field every lap, amassing nearly two minutes on the next best Pro 2 rider to the finish en route to victory and ninth overall .

SLR Honda’s Jack Simpson found himself second in Pro 2 once again. The Aussie native showed plenty of speed and consistency in his first year in the US, but Oliveira showed he could had just a little more of that speed and consistency. 3Bros Kilmartin Husqvarna’s Kai Aiello completed the podium ahead of Purvines Racing Yamaha’s Thomas Dunn and Kawasaki rider Gavin Brough.

Cole Martinez at the 2022 Bunker Hill Grand Prix
Cole Martinez dug deep to hold off a charged Austin Walton in the final moments of the race to finish third and keep his championship hopes alive.

The Pro Women’s class podium became somewhat familiar with KTM’s Brandy Richards atop the box and GasGas’ Ava Silvestri holding on a notch in second place. Richards led from start to finish and built a big gap chasing as many Pro and Pro 2 riders as he could in conditions favorable for the Lake Havasu native.

Brandy Richards at the 2022 Bunker Hill Grand Prix
Brandy Richards left the women’s Pro class behind, placing 21st overall and well in the Pro and Pro 2 fields ahead of her.

Silvestri’s teammate Lauren Woods completed the women’s Pro podium in third while nursing an injury sustained in round four just over a month ago.

Crispy lover shocked to find Aldi impostor in branded snack multipack as questions arose https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/crispy-lover-shocked-to-find-aldi-impostor-in-branded-snack-multipack-as-questions-arose/ Fri, 13 May 2022 09:47:39 +0000 https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/crispy-lover-shocked-to-find-aldi-impostor-in-branded-snack-multipack-as-questions-arose/ A man has caused a stir online after sharing the moment he discovered his multipack of Hula Hoops contained a packet of Aldi Snackrite’s own brand ‘Hoops’. A man has caused a stir online after sharing the moment he discovered his multipack of Hula Hoops contained a packet of Aldi Snackrite’s own brand ‘Hoops’.

The confusion has raised questions about whether or not the crisps are made by the same suppliers, leading people to wonder if the snacks are actually the same.

Taking to Reddit to share his discovery, the man wrote: “My whole worldview is hanging by a thread.”

The man had bought the packet of crisps from Sainsbury’s in the UK, and people were quick to encourage him to complain to Hula Hoops and seek compensation, as Mirror UK reports.

They commented: “Step 1: Claim the error from Hula Hoops and receive a free voucher.

“Step 2: Claim Aldi how a pack of their Hula Hoops got into the multipack and receive a free voucher.

“Step 3: Claim yourself at Sainsbury’s, where you actually got the multipack from, and receive a free voucher.

“Step 4: Buy a bag to put all the Hula Hoops in!”

To this, someone replied, “Step 3.5: Buy a wallet to put all your vouchers in.”

Many have seen the funny side of the confusion, with one person writing: “Whoever you complain to, I hope they’re willing to jump through hoops to make things right.”

Someone replied, “I think even though they’re made in the same factory, that doesn’t mean they’re exactly the same. They can probably make different recipes in the same factory.”

An Aldi spokesperson said it was unable to comment on relationships with individual suppliers, but Aldi does share suppliers with other brands.

The plot thickens…

Another user continued to stir the pot, writing, “I deliver filters for my job, and I’ve been to various factories that make food. It’s all the same places that do the same supermarkets.

Aldi

“Without naming names, I went to a chocolate biscuit factory that supplies all supermarkets. A dog food factory that supplies a variety of dog food brands. And a ready meals factory that supplies the big 4.

“My 25-pound sunglasses are made in the same factory as Burberry Armani and Oakley.”

Someone agreed and said, “As a student, I worked a summer job in a factory that made detergents for different brands.

“Most of them were using the exact same liquid for the respective products, just in different packaging (which obviously means different markups for the consumer).”

A spokesperson for KP Snacks, which manufactures Hula Hoops, said: “KP Snacks manufactures products for Aldi on the same site as its own Hula Hoops brand, although the products are made to different formulations.

“This looks like an unfortunate mistake at the packaging stage. We encourage the consumer to get in touch with our customer service team at kpsnacks.com/contact so that we can investigate.”

Jazz and art transcend language and culture in the work of Sam Nhlengethwa https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/jazz-and-art-transcend-language-and-culture-in-the-work-of-sam-nhlengethwa/ Sat, 07 May 2022 06:23:43 +0000 https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/jazz-and-art-transcend-language-and-culture-in-the-work-of-sam-nhlengethwa/ “Jazz, I think, is a universal language and expression,” says artist and one of the founders of the Bag Factory arts organization in Newtown, Sam Nhlengethwa. “Jazz, I think, is a universal language and expression,” says artist and one of the founders of the Bag Factory arts organization in Newtown, Sam Nhlengethwa.

The artist is best known for his figurative paintings and collages exploring themes of social history and art, jazz, mining and domestic life. Nhlengethwa was born in 1955, in the mining community of Payneville, Springs, southeast of Johannesburg. After studying at Rorke’s Drift Art Center in the late 1970s, he attended the Johannesburg Art Foundation.

Jazz is an integral part of his creative process – legends like Abdullah Ibrahim, Miriam Makeba, Nina Simone, Hugh Masekela and Cannonball Adderley feature regularly in his work. “I always play jazz in my studio while working,” he says. In an old interview with the international art magazine Apollo, he described it “like oxygen. “It completes my life. I grew up listening to jazz music that was played to me by my two older brothers; from the age of 15, there was jazz in the house.

When he uses jazz as his inspiration, he sees it as a tribute to his late brother, Rankie Ramponeng, who was a jazz collector and musician. “I feel like every time I do a jazz piece, I pay homage to it.” “Jazz enthusiasts realize what a powerful tool it is. American jazz musician Keith Jarrett said that jazz is a means of transportation, it is a universal language that speaks to different tribes of people around the world. “Jazz music, like art, transcends all linguistic and cultural barriers,” says Nhlengethwa. A jazz musician may come from South Africa and play jazz in the marabi style, but that speaks to you whether you are from China or Cuba A Cuban artist may play a clave, a rhythmic arrangement that conjures up images of clubs dark in La Havana Alley, swirling bodies enveloped in cigar smoke, and immediately the listener will be transported to that same club.

Like jazz music, Nhlengethwa’s work has the same universal language that speaks to the viewer on a deeper level. His compositions – usually mixed media collages – have harmony and rhythmic arrangement similar to a jazz composition, but also possess a spontaneity and playfulness associated with an improvised jazz riff.

South Africa’s leading auction house, Strauss & Co, is also delighted to offer four outstanding works by Nhlengethwa at its virtual live auction, which will take place from May 16-17, 2022. One auction lots, Abdullah Ibrahim and Johnny Dyani (R120,000 – R160,000) is an evocative multimedia collage featuring South African jazz legends Ibrahim and Dyani. The work shows the two musicians against a pitch black background, lost in their melodies as the rays of studio lights fall on them. The work immediately evokes a lugubrious marabi, punctuated by the sound accents of Dyani’s double bass.

The creative process

Nhlengethwa uses magazine clippings, her family albums and her own photographs, as well as books, fabrics, steel and other found objects. “A lot happens before I can even start the actual collage. I have to think of a theme and conceptualize it. Then I think about how the image I have in mind should be executed, how much acrylic or oil paint I need, compared to other materials. The perspective in the image is determined by the size of the images,” he explains. “I am inspired by my environment and where I come from. Street scenes are a huge part of my art, my admiration for other artists is a factor, music and my own experiences all play a role,” he explains. “Studying at Rorke’s Drift in the late 1970s had an impact on my art – living with the villagers, studying their rural life and comparing it to the urban life where I come from.”

Nhlengethwa also worked for the SABC as a studio decorator, a craft that contributed to his popular “bedroom collages”. “I think I’ve always had a latent interest in ‘dressing up’ my creations. I would always have an idea of what I thought the final product should look like. One of these works The piano (R150,000 – R200,000) features a mid-century Scandi-style lounge chair, juxtaposed with a grand piano and an abstract artwork. Above the piano hangs the image of a musician.

Nhlengethwa is also known for his protest art, which depicts the plight of black people under the apartheid regime.

Hacking the Roots of Apartheid

“During the struggle, art and music played an important role in protest art. Artists were participating in various ways, showing their disagreement with the struggle – both locally and internationally,” he said in an interview with Khaya FM. Artists produced works that visually showed the suffering of black people in the country, while musicians like Abdul Ibrahim’s legendary song, Mannenbergbecame a worldwide hit and an anti-apartheid anthem, played at anti-apartheid rallies. “I believe that in this way, musicians and artists have contributed a little to slashing the roots of the apartheid government,” he concludes.

For more information on the sale, visit www.straussart.co.za.

The exhibition is open to the public until May 17, 2022, at 89 Central Street, Houghton Estate, JHB. Strauss & Co’s May auction in Johannesburg, which focuses on surrealism in South Africa, begins with a sale of fine wines from the private collections of Peter Veldsman and Dirkie Christowitz on Sunday May 15 at 11am. Modern Art, Post-War and Contemporary Art sessions will take place on Monday May 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., as well as on Tuesday May 17 at 7 p.m.

It’s the perennial conundrum for van owners: how do you organize and secure things in bed? Some manufacturers offer their own solutions, such as Ram with the RamBox storage bins built into the bedside tables, or Honda and Hyundai with their under-bed chests. Many owners resort to a tonneau cover, which addresses the safety aspect but not the organizational one. And a tonneau cover essentially turns your truck into a giant Lincoln Town Car – when you use the tonneau, the bed is a trunk, so you can’t haul your dirt bike, ATV or grandfather clock. Readya Defiance, Ohio company has a solution: its truck bed drawer system.

Ezra DyerCar and driver

The idea is that you get the benefits of a hard tonneau (lockable, weatherproof, and out of sight storage) as well as pull-out drawers to organize gear while retaining the ability to carry large and heavy items. . This is because the deck is not flush with the top of the bed, like a barrel. It’s lower and rated to hold 2000 pounds, so you can load gear into the drawers and still park your Yamaha Banshee on top. This all sounded promising, so we tried a Decorated drawer system ($1499.99) on a 2022 Nissan Frontier.

bridged van drawer system

Ezra DyerCar and driver

The installation process is more difficult on a Frontier than it would be on a full-size truck because the larger sizes don’t require drilling (on the large trucks, the system is secured with the factory tie-downs). For the Frontier, we had to move some fasteners and drill holes in the cab side of the bed to mount the center channel that goes between the drawers. But as long as you embrace the “measure twice, drill once” credo when pointing a drill at your truck, it’s not intimidating. The extremely detailed and in-depth installation instructions are 22 pages long, and when you’re deep in the process, you’ll appreciate the sense of humor throughout.

The most important sections are highlighted in red, such as the weatherstripping page that goes to the edge of the drawers. This part reads: “IMPORTANT: Facing the weather stripping the wrong way will funnel water into the drawer: BAD!” There is also a useful facility video.

Decked recommends recruiting a friend to help with setups like this, as moving the fasteners is very difficult with just one pair of hands. The instructions warn: “You’ll need to grab a friend for this step (or have incredibly long, flexible arms).” Our Frontier installer did it solo, somehow. But the whole process will go faster if you have help. Near the end comes the fun stuff – installing the bottle opener and ruler, securing the ammo boxes (vertical bins with snap-on lids that flank the drawers).

decked van bed drawer system

Ezra DyerCar and driver

You can just throw your gear in the drawers, but Decked includes organizers designed for space: dividers, a small fitted tool box, a larger one called D-Box. (There’s an optional soft bag dubbed, yes, the D-Bag.) Overlanders could opt for the Decked X Pathfinder Campfire Cooking Kit or the Survival Kit. If your truck does not have a lockable tailgate, you can also order locks for the drawers.

decked van bed drawer system

Ezra DyerCar and driver

Our owner Frontier, who does contract work, fell in love with the Decked system. Now, instead of hauling his tools from his truck to the garage every day, he just leaves them in Decked drawers, ready to go. He also pointed out that the top loading surface sits above the wheel wells of the truck and thus allows for carrying sheets of plywood or gypsum laid flat, which was not the case with the stock bed. . The system also proved completely waterproof after going through a car wash – the ammo boxes, which aren’t considered weatherproof, barely held any water inside. And everything about it, from the way the drawer handles unlock to the snug fit of the lids on the ammo boxes, seems extremely well made. The dominant material is high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is both durable and, in this case, 100% recycled.

decked van bed drawer system

Ezra DyerCar and driver

On the downside, your loading deck gets higher, which will add a challenge if you’re using ramps to load an ATV (you’d want to back the truck up a steep hill or use really long ramps). And the system weighs 205 pounds, extra weight that counts toward your truck’s payload capacity. The Frontier didn’t seem to notice. Finally, if you like to put an inflatable pool in the back of your truck to make a redneck hot tub, that setup will now have to be above ground, so to speak. We are just warning you.

But overall, the Ready The system is a well-thought-out, well-executed solution to the compromises imposed by pickup beds. You retain the ability to haul large heavy trucks while benefiting from organized, secure and watertight storage. Once you see it in action, you wonder why truck beds weren’t designed like this in the first place.

NOTTINGHAM, Pa. (WPVI) – Herr’s potato chips have been enjoyed in the greater Philadelphia area for more than 75 years.

But not all chips are perfect. In fact, some are marked with imperfections and would otherwise become food waste.

“We don’t want them finding their way into the bag,” said Peter Graziano, director of research and development at Herr Foods. “We also don’t want to just throw them in the trash and fill the landfill.”

The problem was noticed decades ago by founder James S. Herr. And luckily, her solution proved to be durable enough to continue pursuing her for decades.

“We have a pretty special setup here with our farm down the street, where we can pick up these chips and send them to the farm for livestock feed,” Graziano said.

A sophisticated sensor system uses cameras and air jets to knock unwanted chips onto a separate conveyor belt, where they will soon meet a new target.

The concoction of crisps, pretzels, popcorn and more becomes cattle feed for the adjacent Herr Angus farm.

Herdsman Dylan Beam says it’s good for the cattle and good for the environment.

“I think the unique digestive system of the beef cow is kind of what makes it all make sense,” he said. “And it’s a valuable nutrient for livestock.”

But Herr’s recycles more than waste from the chip production line.

“We can take the water from the factory and irrigate the fields, which then feed the cattle,” Beam said. “And the resulting manure is then put back on the cultivated soil.”

Herr’s believes its sustainability practices are consistent with its mission to support the local community.

“A lot of companies are developing programs like this, but we’ve been doing it for decades,” Graziano said. “And for many decades to come.”

At six o’clock in the morning there is a changing of the guard. Alarm clocks are ringing and citizens looking to feed their families are madly tapping on screens in hopes of getting a delivery location on a grocery store app. Meanwhile, netizens are battling government censors to tell the real story. In Shanghai today, resistance and survival are virtual.

What started as a four-day, two-stage lockdown in China’s biggest city is now in its fourth week as authorities battle to contain the city’s worst Covid surge yet, driven by the highly contagious variant of Omicron. There are currently more than 21,000 Covid cases among Shanghai’s 25 million people, and no clear timetable for lifting the lockdown, leaving rich and poor, locals and foreigners united in a quest for survival and information. ‘a way I haven’t seen in over a decade as a reporter in the city.

Public criticism of government policies is unusual in China, and much of it censored, but alarming stories over the past month are widely shared. There are food and medicine shortages, workers at companies such as Tesla are forced to sleep in their factories overnight to reduce transmission, and elderly people have died in the city’s cabin hospitals, described like Covid concentration camps for cramming thousands of positive cases into isolation wards with poor conditions. Officials say Omicron caused no deaths among infected Shanghai residents, but unofficial tallies show at least 172 residents died under the brutal quarantine measures, including vulnerable people whose treatments were delayed.

The measures were further tightened this weekend. In recent days, images have started to emerge of workers in white hazmat suits setting up two-metre green fences outside housing blocks designated as ‘sealed areas’ where at least one person has tested positive for Covid, to stop people leaving.

For residents like me, the announcement of this confinement came suddenly. After battling a rising wave of Omicron cases in March, the Shanghai government announced on the evening of March 27 that starting at 3 a.m. the next day, the Pudong area would be quarantined for four days. Shanghai is crossed by the Huangpu River into Pudong and Puxi, which translate to the east and west of the Huangpu. Those in Pudong had about an hour to get food before the shops closed.

April Fool’s Day marked the start of Puxi’s turn in a four-day lockdown. I had risen at 7am the night before, hunting for meager supplies and returning with a bag full of cauliflower, carrots and other vegetables, having spent nearly 100 RMB (£11) – more double the usual price, and enough to last me quite a bit over the four days. As we found out on April 1, the joke was on us – a few hours after Puxi went into lockdown at 3am, Pudong should have had its lockdown lifted, but that never happened.

For many Shanghai residents, their lockdowns began long before March 28 or April 1. Throughout March, most housing complexes were closed. I was one of the lucky ones with my resort only having a two day closure. A friend from Pudong, a retired civil servant, recently posted on WeChat (Chinese WhatsApp which also has a social feed) that he was on day 39 of his confinement and, after eleven PCR tests, still negative.

City-wide shutdowns have further increased restrictions. Suddenly, we were confined to our apartments, no longer free to roam our compounds. All transport was suspended and although delivery people were supposed to continue to operate, the confusion of the first few days meant that this did not really happen. More than ever, we have become dependent on the delivery of meals and groceries, but the system has burst under the restrictions.

Quickly, life under confinement became virtual. It’s very difficult to get a full picture of what’s going on in Shanghai other than snippets taken from messages shared on WeChat, Weibo (Chinese Twitter) and, for those with access to a VPN, Twitter itself. What emerges from these messages and conversations with friends is that there is growing anger, war weariness and discontent.

Shanghai, a municipality of more than 25 million people, is China’s most populous and wealthiest city, but for people today, the main concern is the hunt for food. From April 2, the government began delivering food to concessions, but the quality, quantity and frequency varied widely and the number of people in a household was not taken into account.

In three weeks, I received three documents from the government. The last one I received included rice and cooking oil, other households have recently received laundry detergent and soap – which makes us wonder how long this will all last. Government rations are not enough and largely consist of vegetables such as mooli, potatoes, cucumbers and – if you’re lucky – meat.

In the first two weeks, it was almost impossible to get a delivery slot on grocery shopping apps due to the shortage of delivery people and the demand. Getting it right required booking around 6am and quick reflexes, which meant people were dependent on government paperwork and what they managed to stock up on before the lockdown.

PA

Compounds later found more success through bulk ordering of supplies. Over the past week, my building has secured meat, vegetables, bananas, cakes, Coke, milk tea, and Starbucks. Still, cooking a meal is like getting a mystery bag on Ready Steady Cook – everyone shares recipes and tips on what to do with the limited supplies available. That said, the food situation is much better than in the first two weeks, probably thanks to group purchases. It also looks like companies like Jingdong are now getting more delivery people and are able to handle more personal orders.

While food remains an underlying concern, the real fear lies in testing positive and being taken to a fangcang yiyuan: a square hospital with no medical treatment – merely a place to concentrate positive Covid cases in camps and isolate them from the rest of the population. Even conditions in the top quality camps are mediocre at best, with thousands of people crammed in. Elderly people are said to have died indoors after admission, although they are not counted as Covid deaths. Most of the more than 300,000 cases reported since March have ended up in such camps. A Corgi was beaten to death after following its owner on a bus taking them to a camp. Fortunately, this seems to be an isolated case, but people are worried about what will happen to their pets if they are taken away.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has yet to visit crisis-hit Shanghai, but CCTV reports of comments he made during his military visit to Hainan said: “Perseverance is victory. . Adhere to people first, life first, adhere to imported case prevention, domestic case rebound, adhere to scientific precision, zero-COVID momentum.

PA

People in Shanghai are quickly coming to the conclusion that zero-Covid equals zero-plan. Dissidents engage in a continual game of cat and mouse with censors winning overnight victories only to see posts deleted during the day. One of the most recently banned hashtags was the first line of the national anthem “Get Up! Those who refuse to be slaves. On Saturday, a sea of content in WeChat feeds was removed and the censorship of Voices of April, a moving video featuring snippets of conversations recorded in Shanghai over the month. The video went viral on Friday and its deletion created even more anger.

Many don’t care about government threats and share posts such as a recording with Zhu Weiping, an epidemiologist working in Pudong, who said Omicron’s response was politicized rather than based on medical need. Another widely shared essay is an essay simply titled “Help” by blogger Storm Zhang, who is desperate about the food situation. WeChat streams for the past few days have been filled with the Les Miserables song “Do you hear people singing? which is quickly becoming an anthem for the situation in Shanghai.

State propaganda hit back with scenes of shoppers in a well-stocked supermarket, with netizens joking that he deserves an Oscar. Later it emerged that it had been filmed in Jinshan, a relatively spare area – the equivalent of filming in Croydon and pretending it was central London.

Reuters

There are, however, some glimmers of hope. Since April 11, compounds have been classified into three categories: precaution, control and containment. Those in the precautionary category are allowed to go outside in their neighborhood and those like my complex under the controlled category allow residents to walk around the complex. While many financial companies forced their employees to sleep in their offices to stay open, 666 factories have now been given the green light to resume production using a closed-loop system. This notably includes Tesla, where the workers will have to sleep in the factory.

There’s still no definite timeline for when it will end, and people feel like they’ve been Shanghaied. On Sunday, workers began erecting fences in parts of the city, often barricading people in their homes in what is described as a hard lockdown. The internet responded with the Chinese characters for Shanghai written with a fence.

A recent survey showed that 85% of foreigners were rethinking their future in the city, with nearly half planning to leave within the next year. But it’s not just expatriates. In the past week, a well-connected and educated businessman in the UK told me about his plans to go to Singapore and a single mother who has never left China also talks about emigrating .

Whenever (if) it ever reaches Covid-zero, Shanghai will be a changed city. We will never forget that the doors of our enclosures, while preventing others from entering, can just as easily make us prisoners.

Fabio Quartararo dominates the MotoGP of Portimao, Jack Miller crushes Joan Mir | MotoGP https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/fabio-quartararo-dominates-the-motogp-of-portimao-jack-miller-crushes-joan-mir-motogp/ Sun, 24 Apr 2022 12:51:37 +0000 https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/fabio-quartararo-dominates-the-motogp-of-portimao-jack-miller-crushes-joan-mir-motogp/ Seeking to convert pole position into a first MotoGP victory, Johann Zarco was momentarily relegated to fourth place, before winning back to moto two on the outside of the first corner. Seeking to convert pole position into a first MotoGP victory, Johann Zarco was momentarily relegated to fourth place, before winning back to moto two on the outside of the first corner.

Showing the best race pace in free practice, Mir got off to a stunning start from second place, as did another pre-race favourite, Fabio Quartararo, who moved from fifth to second.

Fabio Quartararo launches 2022 MotoGP title bid

However, the best start of all came from Alex Rins who moved up ten places on the opening lap. Brilliant stuff from Argentina and from the COTA podium.

After opening a lead of almost eight tenths over Quartararo, the reigning world champion went three tenths faster than the Suzuki rider to close the gap considerably.

Continuing to gain time in the final sector, Quartararo pulled off a nice slingshot into the final corner on lap four as he snuck his way, yes “powered” his Yamaha ahead of Mir in the race towards turn one.

With a clear track in front of him, Quartararo continued to slip away from Mir as the gap was now over a second. Instead of looking ahead, Mir’s biggest challenge now came from behind as Zarco began to close in.

But as was the case in Mandalika, which ultimately cost him victory, Zarco was spending too much time stuck behind the 2020 world champion. Despite his pace advantage

Further on, the two Repsol Hondas fought a close battle for ninth place. After nearly making contact at turn one, Marquez responded to Espargaro’s aggressive pass by diving on the inside at turn 15. A great move from Marquez.

As the battles continue to rage behind him, Quartararo’s Sunday drive through the Algarve included a new all-time race lap record at lap nine – 1:39.435s.

After an early crash for Pramac rider Jorge Martin, another rider who is in the running for a 2023 factory Ducati seat crashed.

Yes, that’s the driver you’re thinking of… Championship leader Enea Bastianini crashed at turn 8, before Takaaki Nakagami also crashed at turn 14.

The Japanese rider managed to get back on the road in what was quickly becoming another weekend to forget for the LCR Honda man.

With Zarco still stuck behind Mir with 12 laps to go, Miller started to edge closer to the podium spots after picking up his pace.

Feeling the heat from Miller behind, Zarco attempted his first pass for second but ran wide which gave way to Mir.

Despite his difficult weekend, which left the Italian less than 100% for the race due to several big crashes, Francesco Bagnaia was producing a brilliant effort as he moved from last to 12th with eight laps to go.

Miller knocks out Mir in battle for Portimao podium

While one factory Ducati was making good progress, the other caused huge drama as Miller wiped out Mir at the first corner.

The Aussie tried to pass Mir who was already proving very hard to brake in the first corner, just ask Zarco, however, Miller lost the front before recovering the Spaniard. A sarcastic applause followed from Mir before Miller was seen apologizing for his mistake.

With Quartararo’s victory in the bag, Aleix Espargaro quickly closed in on Zarco for second place, however, the Aprilia rider was unable to pass on the final lap.

Marc and Alex Marquez had a tasty fight for sixth place – Marc got the better of his younger brother following a move at turn 14, while Bagnaia got the best of P. Espargaro a corner later, still in the last round.

LA Fashion students are now learning circular entrepreneurship – WWD https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/la-fashion-students-are-now-learning-circular-entrepreneurship-wwd/ Fri, 22 Apr 2022 21:52:11 +0000 https://coachfactoryoutlets2014.com/la-fashion-students-are-now-learning-circular-entrepreneurship-wwd/ Design student Preston Sanchez’s mission was to make a product that uses only recycled materials or leftovers from a local factory in Los Angeles. Design student Preston Sanchez’s mission was to make a product that uses only recycled materials or leftovers from a local factory in Los Angeles.

At first he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. “I thought about it. And then I decided it would be really cool to make a recycled denim sweatshirt or sweater,” he said.

Four prototypes later, Sanchez has produced a denim sweatshirt that is actually comfortable because the material is so soft from constant use. “When I got it back I was super excited,” he said. “My vision came true even though there were some small adjustments.”

From his mission, he learned this: sustainability must be at the forefront of design. “You can’t design something without thinking about this process,” he explained.

Sanchez was one of eight students enrolled in a relatively new class called “EcoMadeinLA: Introduction to Circular Entrepreneurship” at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.

The course was created by Adjunct Professor Mateo Neri, who received a $30,000 grant from VentureWell, a Massachusetts nonprofit that funds and trains faculty and students to create socially beneficial businesses. The grant was used to pay for costs and materials for students to manufacture their products.

Neri normally teaches an “Introduction to Entrepreneurship”, but he saw the need for a course that combines entrepreneurship with sustainability because it is the future. “I wanted to avoid all the problems we have in the supply chain by buying fabric from Asia and manufacturing it in Europe. It’s better to use local resources and it’s more sustainable,” Neri said.

To meet the demand for more designers trained in sustainable practices, fashion schools are offering master’s degrees, certificates, and minors in sustainable fashion, or running special courses on upcycling, upcycling, and using off-cuts. cutting room floor like the one at ArtCenter.

LA has earned a reputation as a center of sustainable fashion innovation, with Saitex dubbing itself “the cleanest denim factory in the world”, opening in 2021 and producing clothes for Frame and Everlane, among others, as well as pioneering local brands such as Reformation and Christy Dawn helping to make carbon offsetting cool.

In Neri’s class, students worked with local factories to use recycled materials or leftovers to create products such as a sweatshirt, tote bag or even a sofa.

Product design student Anna Lee Joy said she took the course because she wanted to design something that would last. “We buy so many things that aren’t meant to last and go straight to landfill,” she said.

For her tote bag, backpack, pouches, and a surfboard bag, she used airbag material left on the cutting room floor. “The airbag material lasts, according to the automotive industry, at least 10 to 15 years. But it really doesn’t wear out,” she said.

Joy worked with David Garcia of D&D Leather Goods, an entrepreneur from Los Angeles. Garcia said he’s never worked with air bags, but turned old blankets into bags. “A lot of my customers, around 60-70%, want sustainable products now,” he said.

Student Jess Ziman focused on the furniture, creating a 70-inch-wide sofa made from leftover airbag material, old denim, shredded plastic bags and foam scraps. From her leftovers after making the sofa, she crocheted baskets.

Sustainability is important to Ziman because she worked in restaurants and saw huge amounts of food thrown away every night. “It’s something that I found frustrating,” she said.

For her, sustainability is not only about materials, but also about manufacturing. “The whole process is really important to me,” she explained. “If you’re not adding to the world and doing something to improve our space, then why do it?”

But there were challenges. She worked with Elizabeth Rodriguez-Buluk, who owns a custom furniture factory and store in Los Angeles. “We spent a lot of time on it,” admitted Rodriguez-Buluk.

Ziman has learned that making a product that lasts can be difficult. “There is so much extra work and extra cost and labor. You’re looking for material that you have to be really creative with,” she said. “I also learned that sustainability isn’t about being perfect. But if you pass 85%, you have an impact on the world.

Now that class is over, students showcase their wares on Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. at a pop-up store at 584 Mateo Street in Los Angeles’ trendy arts district.
