Bvlgari and fashion brand Casablanca collaborate on a collection of bags
Creative partnerships between fine jewelry houses and their fashion peers have always been rare.
And that’s why Bvlgari collectors eagerly await the latest capsule of the Roman house’s ongoing collaborative bag collection “Serpenti Through the Eyes Of”, which has seen the likes of Nicholas Kirkwood, Alexander Wang and, the last year, Mary Katrantzou. .
This time, the fashion house has enlisted to reinterpret the mythical icon of Bulgari Serpenti, it is the contemporary Parisian brand Casablanca. Imagine what you would get if Bvlgari’s spirit may troppo (“never too much” in Italian) responds to the I do not know what (“that something special” in French) from Casablanca. The result is fireworks: two sub-ranges with totally different aesthetics that share playful chic and modern glamour. In total, the capsule showcases seven designs across post-tennis history and mosaic history, both inspired by Casablanca’s leisurewear DNA and Mediterranean DNA.
Casablanca’s Franco-Moroccan founder and creative director, Charaf Tajer, explains his vision: “With Bvlgari, we share the same love and respect for timeless codes and the ambition to interpret them in new ways: this is the prism with which we have played on this collaboration. The collection is both modern and classic. The Serpenti has behind it a thousand-year-old iconography and we wanted to bring it back once again but in a modern way, playing with its aesthetic characteristics.
The Après Tennis line references the classic look and graphic design elements of the sport, with a unique combination of white perforated leather, green accents, gold-plated hardware and unprecedented wooden handles. The four bags in this sub-range exude a sense of effortless ease and elegance. The classic Serpenti Forever bag shape, displaying the iconic snakeshead closure, comes with a detachable wooden handle and detachable leather shoulder strap for maximum versatility.
There is also a square sculptural bag called the Jewelery Box, which is inspired by a Bvlgari Heritage Collection silver box from the 1920s. This special edition features a distinctive top evoking the multiple facets of a gemstone. There’s also a roomy and practical tote bag with a shoulder strap and a nifty mini crossbody bag.
The second Mosaic line is deeply linked to Bvlgari’s identity rooted in the magnificent splendor of Rome. Inspired by the mesmerizing mosaics that pave many of the Eternal City’s most fascinating villas and monuments, the three bags look like true works of art. Fusing contemporary neo-classicism with the vacation feel of Casablanca, they feature a vibrant textured print that conveys the three-dimensional texture of antique tiles.
Like their After Tennis counterparts, the Mosaic Serpenti Forever Bag has a detachable wooden handle and a detachable leather shoulder strap, while the tote bag and mini shoulder bag also have the same shape and structure. The collection will be released in selected Bvlgari boutiques around the world in two editions: the After Tennis on April 20 and the Mosaic on May 20.
