At The Game: Elon Football eyes first unbeaten home season since 1997

Elon, NC — No. 19/23 Elon hosts UAlbany on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for reunion and 2022 senior day. The Phoenix can finish their first home season unbeaten since 1997 and break Rhodes Stadium’s winning streak record with a sixth consecutive win, dating back to last year.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast on FloSports and televised via My48 on the Piedmont-Triad market (Spectrum channel 15). Taylor Durham and Khirey Walker will be on the call, with Natalie Bode as a supporting reporter. The game’s audio call with Chase Williams and Katie Bennert can be streamed for free through The Varsity Network app on your smartphone. Coverage on The Varsity Network app begins at 1:30 p.m. with the Carter + Smith band countdown before kickoff and ends with the Dominos locker room report after the game.

Empty Bag Policy: Starting with the 2021 football season, Elon Athletics has implemented a clear sack policy for all home football matches. Customers bringing bags to Rhodes Stadium must ensure they are clear bags and no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Allowed items include handbags, diaper bags, items related to a medical condition and factory-sealed water bottles Elon Athletics will distribute clear bags provided by the Turner Agency and Farm Bureau Insurance at the main entrance to the first 50 people who need them.

Concessions: Fans attending Saturday’s game will have access to an enhanced selection of food from our concession stands, including Niman Ranch hot dogs and San Giuseppe Italian sausages, while enjoying in-stadium beer and wine sales. . Alcohol sales will end at the start of the fourth quarter and we ask that you always drink responsibly. The Raw Bar will feature Pirate Pearl Oysters served on the half shell and North Carolina Blue Crab Dip, while The Grille will feature Joyce Farms Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Joyce Farms Ground Beef Sandwiches and BBQ Sandwiches with Colfax Creek pulled pork.

Carolinas Marching Band Fire: The drummers of the Fire of the Carolinas will perform a preview concert near Lake Mary Nell on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Be sure to get out there, enjoy the weather and listen to our amazing musicians perform exciting.

On Saturday, The Fire of the Carolinas and the Alumni Band will join forces throughout the day. Beginning with a 9:30-11:30 p.m. rehearsal at Hunt Field, we encourage viewers to visit, listen, and support the band as they prepare for their upcoming performances.

Phoenix Walk with the FOTC Marching Band will begin at 11:35 p.m. on Bank of America. All fans are encouraged to watch and support our team as they make their way to the stadium. Then, around 1:00 p.m., the group will parade from the Arts Center to the Rhodes stadium. Along the way we will stop at various tailgating events. Be sure to cheer, sing, and support your FOTC. After tailgating, the group will then enter the main stadium entrance and perform a pre-game on the pitch starting 20 minutes before kick-off.

Save your seats during halftime and join the FOTC marching band for exciting halftime entertainment. This week, FOTC will present a show called “Bird is the Word: A Tribute to the Phoenix”, where we will feature music from Weather Report, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Ray Charles. It’s definitely a performance you won’t want to miss.

Back home: The Homecoming court presentation will take place at halftime. The crowning of the reunion royalties will take place immediately after the end of the third quarter.

Lightning Delay Protocol: Elon Athletics Event Management will monitor for extreme weather conditions on match day. If a severe weather system is approaching Rhodes Stadium, announcements will be made on the public address system.

If a lightning-producing storm is within eight miles of Rhodes Stadium, all guests inside the facility will be asked to take shelter via public address announcements and video screens.

When the stadium is approved for re-entry, an announcement will be made via the public address system, video board and social media, as well as radio and available broadcast points.

FOUND OBJECT: The Rhodes Stadium Lost and Found station is located in the ticket office at the stadium’s main entrance. Found items should be returned to this location. Items not claimed on game day can be claimed the next business day by calling 336-278-6800.

Car park: All car parks open five hours before kick-off (9:00 a.m.). CLICK HERE for a parking card. Parking is available to the general public in Hunt B lot for $10. Overflow game day parking is located in the Colonnades and Innovation Quad parking lots. Starting at 12:30 p.m., a free shuttle will stop at each of these locations and drop off at Bank of America Drive at Rhodes Stadium.

Disabled parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at Hunt A, Hunt B and Global Neighborhood parking lots.

Pets: Pets are not allowed inside Rhodes Stadium. Only service animals specially trained to assist a person are permitted.

Phoenix Club half-time hospitality: All Phoenix Club members who contribute annually at the level of $250 or more are invited to visit our halftime hospitality area, located behind the Woods Center press box on the west side of the stadium. The area will open with approximately five minutes remaining in Q2 and eligible members will be able to enter from behind Section 208 (a slight adjustment from previous years). Members can check in at the Phoenix Club tent by showing their Phoenix Club Maroon or Gold 2022-23 wristband. Be prepared to show off your wristbands as you enter the welcome tent.

Ring ceremonies: The women’s cross country team will receive their 2021 CAA Championship rings during the first media break of the first quarter. The track and field team will receive their 2022 CAA championship rings during the first media break of the second quarter.

Senior Day: The Elon Football team will recognize 17 student-athletes and two student support staff at a pre-game ceremony. The Cheer and Dance Team will host Seniors Day festivities at the first quarter break, while the band will host Seniors Day at halftime.

Tickets can be purchased at the Rhodes Stadium box office from 12:30 p.m. Accepted methods of payment for the purchase of tickets are cash (Window 4 only), Visa and MasterCard.

Fans can also take advantage of the Elon digital ticket office. Fans can transfer unused tickets, print tickets from home, or pick up your tickets on your smartphone if you’re at the game.


From the Greensboro area to West Campus
Once approaching Elon/Burlington, take Interstate 85/40 to Exit 140 (University Drive).
Take the right exit off the off ramp and turn left at the light onto University Drive.
Stay on University Drive for 6.5 km, then turn right on N. Williamson Avenue.
Continue for 500 meters until you reach Rhodes Stadium on your left.

Raleigh-Durham area east of campus
Once approaching Elon/Burlington, take Interstate 85/40 to Exit 140 (University Drive).
Take the right exit off the off ramp and turn right at the light onto University Drive.
Stay on University Drive for 3.8 miles, then turn right on N. Williamson Avenue.
Continue for 500 meters until you reach Rhodes Stadium on your left.

From the Danville, Virginia area north of campus
Once approaching Elon/Burlington, take Hwy 87 to Old Hwy 87, then turn right onto Old Hwy 87.
Go 0.1 mile before turning left onto Elon Ossipee Road.
Drive 3.7 miles before turning right onto Shallowford Road.
Continue for 500 yards and go through the traffic lights crossing University Drive to Rhodes Stadium on your left.
