14-year-old maid raped, murdered


LAHORE: A 14-year-old maid was raped and murdered in Marghazar settlement within Hunjarwal police boundaries here on Saturday.

CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar learned of the incident and ordered the immediate arrest of those implicated in the crime. Police said the victim worked as a cleaner in the house of a certain Qasim. On the day of the incident, Qasim informed the victim’s family that she had committed suicide.

The victim’s family took the body to Pattoki for burial. As they suspected rape and murder, they informed the police.

Police arrested Qasim. Another accused identified as Faisal was arrested by Pattoki police. The CHC said strict legal proceedings would be ensured against the criminals.

Boy drowned in the Ravi River: A 17-year-old boy drowned in the Ravi River while taking a deep-water bath in Sundar Police Limits on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 recovered the body and handed it over to the police. The victim was identified as Hamid, a resident of Tandlianwala. He had gone to River Ravi to take a bath near the village of Khudpur. He took care of the buffaloes.

MAN FOUND DEAD: A 70-year-old man was found dead on Saturday in the main market within the police boundaries of Ghalib market. The police took the body to the morgue for an autopsy.

The unknown victim was found unconscious along the road. Police transferred him to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.

Three workers die after a pile of earth fell during digging: Three workers were killed when a mound of earth fell on them while digging an area for a drain in the Phase 9 defense here on Saturday. Two workers were injured. They were transferred to the hospital. The deceased has been identified as Altaf, Bilal, son of Arshad and Riaz. The injured were identified as Rafiq and Ahsan. Rescue 1122 responded to an emergency call and transferred the injured to hospital where three of them were pronounced dead.

Ongoing Actions Against Corrupt Cops: On the orders of Punjab Police Inspector General Rao Sardar Ali Khan, actions are underway against officers and staff implicated in corruption, abuse of power and professional negligence .

In this regard, four staff including two ASI from Gujranwala and Okara were arrested after the cases were registered. According to details, on 8.10.21, ASI M Arshad accompanied by gendarme M Nawaz 1482 / C, gendarme M Akram 437 / C presented the accused Kamran in connection with case 688/21 section 325 of the police station Sadar Wazirabad before the local district court. When ASI M Arshad was obtaining photocopies, the accused escaped after getting rid of the handcuffs.

As a result of this negligence, case no. 691/21 was registered against three people and arrested at the Sadar Wazirabad police station.

Likewise, legal action has been taken against ASI Noor Samad of the Depalpur Police Station for trespassing. The defendant Noor Samad had violated his authority by recording fictitious arrivals and departures at Ramna police station in Islamabad and by carrying out an illegal raid. Thereupon, DPO Okara, after an investigation, registered a case and arrested it.

The Punjab IGP has told commanding officers that corruption, abuse of power and professional negligence are not tolerable under any circumstances while competent officers and officials should be encouraged at all levels.

Woman poisoned to death by her in-laws

A woman was reportedly poisoned to death by her in-laws on Saturday in Talab Sarai village, Manga Mandi.

The victim, a mother of five, was identified as Zeenat Bibi from Talab Sarai village. Police took the body of the deceased into custody and transferred it to the morgue to determine the cause of death.

Further action would be taken after receipt of the autopsy report, police said.

Thieves snatch Rs 20.1m from a citizen

Two robbers snatched 20.1 million rupees from a citizen in broad daylight within Factory Area Police lines on Saturday.

Victim M Ashraf, a property dealer, collected 20.1 million rupees from his friend and was returning from Sialkot in a car driven by his driver Zafar Iqbal when two armed thieves stopped his vehicle and snatched the money from him at gunpoint. The victim accused his driver of being involved in the incident. Police in the factory area registered a complaint against the thieves on the complaint of victim Mr. Ashraf.
